Established jazz guitar production technology at Chaki Stringed Instrument Factory in Kyoto

Shiro Tsuji has been attracted to music and guitar since he was a child. In order to pursue my dreams, I joined the Tea Instrument Stringed Instrument Factory in Kyoto. However, at that time, the Tea Instrument Stringed Instruments Factory mainly handled orchestral stringed instruments such as contrabass, and did not handle guitars at all.
In the absence of a guitar model, I undertook guitar repairs for Gibson Martin and others, and researched and researched the structure thoroughly.
Based on the technology cultivated at the factory and the knowledge gained by investigating the structure by repairing the guitar, we will complete Japan's first single-plate machined jazz guitar.
Since then, Chaki's guitar has become one of Japan's leading brands. Kantaro Uchida of the blues band Yukadan also loves this Chaki guitar.

Returned to his hometown and founded a workshop. Overcome climate deformation of wood

Tsuji Shiro founded "Tsuji Shiro Guitar Studio" because he wanted to contribute to his hometown of Gokayama. However, depending on the place of shipment, the sound board of the guitar that was made was often cracked and returned.
Gokayama in Japan was very humid, and the cause was that the body of the guitar was still moist when it was completed. If you bring it to a dry area with moisture, it will deform when the moisture is completely removed, causing a cracking phenomenon.

Therefore, even in the humid Gokayama, we devised a method to completely remove the moisture through trial and error, and later released the first handmade jazz guitar in Japan, "T and Joo Dee".
Many jazz guitarists have praised this guitar for its high quality in terms of power, flat response, and playability.

Renamed to "S. Tsuji" in the wake of a Tsumura collection repair request

Mr. Tsumura (then president of Tsumura Co., Ltd.), a world-famous banjo and guitar collector who heard the reputation of Shiro Tsuji, requested repair of the Tsumura collection. It was an opportunity to repair a wide variety of banjos and vintage guitars from around the world and to further develop their experience and knowledge. In addition, Mr. Tsumura recommended that "Tsuji Shiro's name should be released to the world." Therefore, we changed the brand name to "S. Tsuji" and took on the challenge of further improving guitar production.

First think about the method that can be realized

Shiro Tsuji does not say the word "I can't". Because that life was a series of challenges and ingenuity. It's easy to say that you can't, but at that moment your growth stops. By continuing to grow, craftsmen can maintain and improve high quality and quality. It is also the philosophy of our workshop.
